Tickled pink

Dusty pink is the new black in blogger Bianca’s bright new bedroom

French For Pineapple blogger and textile designer Bianca Hall is not one to shy away from a dramatic revamp (you might remember her beautiful safari-chic home office makeover).
So when she tired of her black bedroom, she headed straight for saturated pink.

‘I’m a serial redecorator,’ Bianca admits. ‘I get a real buzz from reinventing a room and using fresh paint – how it can completely transform the look and feel of a space.
It doesn’t take much for me to decide on a change.

‘I’ve always been a big fan of pink in interiors. Blush pinks have been super-popular for a while now, and I wanted to push that to another level with a much more saturated, dirty pink.
Pink Nevada 3 is a fabulous shade, both during the day and at night. I find that colour-washing the entire room has the effect of softening a bold
shade, because there are no huge contrasts with the woodwork.

‘I was a little bit nervous about painting the wooden wardrobe doors.
They’re big, flat panels and it’s important to get a really good finish on those. I was painting over black, but it only took two coats of eggshell.

‘I absolutely love the finished look. It’s so bright and inviting – a bit too inviting actually: the sun streams in during the day, the whole room glows, and I just want to read magazines on the bed!

‘My advice is to go with what you love and think about how colours make you feel, rather than what everyone else is doing.

I made that mistake when I painted the room black – I loved the way it looked in photos, but in reality, I hated the way it made me feel. Pink definitely makes me happy.’
